玉兔搗藥是因被處罰嗎

傳說有三位神仙，化身為三個可憐的老人，向狐狸、猴子及兔子乞食，狐狸及猴子都拿出了食物接濟老人，但只有兔子沒有，後來兔子告訴老人『你們吃我吧』，就往烈火中跳了進去，神仙們大受感動，於是將兔子送到了廣寒宮成了玉兔，後來，玉兔就在廣寒宮裡和嫦娥相伴，並搗製長生不老藥。

“ 玉 兔 搗 藥 ” ， 道 教 掌 故 之 一 。 見 於 漢 樂 府 《 董 逃 行 》 。 相 傳 月 亮 之 中 有 一 隻 兔 子 ， 渾 身 潔 白 如 玉 ， 所 以 稱 作 “ 玉 兔 ” 。 這 種 白 兔 拿 著 玉 杵 ， 跪 地 搗 藥 ， 成 蛤 蟆 丸 ， 服 用 此 等 藥 丸 可 以 長 生 成 仙 。 究 而 久 之 ， 玉 兔 便 成 為 月 亮 的 代 名 詞 。
