如果以建築物作比方，來引領各位對紫微斗數作瞭解，頗有教學上的意義性。以14顆主星的排列組合方式，可以呈現出12種盤面結構（以紫微在子到紫微在亥），每種結構裡的每個宮位皆可能成為命宮，所以一個盤面結構能產生12種基本命盤，那也就是說，這14顆主星不同的排列組合，可以形成144個基本命盤。

這144種基本命盤就如同建築物的成型鋼構，是為鋼構架設完成的半成品，尚不是可供居住使用的建築物。雖然同為建築物，然而卻有大、有小、有高、有矮、有長、有短之別，所以須藉用五行局的60甲子花納音來作大小等的分辨。各位在初學斗數時，少有這種概念，所以無從辨識是別墅豪宅或小套房，是精華地段的房子或鄉間小居，這也是學習上的盲點；遺憾的是，這麼重要的領域卻少見涉足，所以希望我們的學員們，對學習態度須講求務實，下真功夫去鑽研，否則，學了老半天也僅能成為皮相學的“老師”而已！
有了大小之別的綱構架設完畢的半成品建築，並不是房子，所以尚沒有使用價值，但是沒有這種架構就不可能會有後續的土建工程，及房子的諸多裝潢與軟體設施及外表的塗裝修飾。對一棟已完工作可以交屋的房子作品頭論足有其實質性，但是對於只有鋼樑結構的房子去作評論，是相當的不切實際，因為尚看不出那棟大樓是為住家用途、百貨公司、大飯店、辦公大樓或當賭場...。
再回到紫微斗數的144個基本命盤來討論，就以紫微破軍坐命之人來說，有可能是好人、壞人、高人、矮人、英雄、梟雄、警察、小偷，因為單就紫微破軍坐宮是無法作出詳細的判斷，因為那也僅是基礎的鋼樑。所以以14顆主星的初步架構來作為“結論”的算命方式是相當離譜，充其量只是「話題」而不是算命！因為算命講究的是個人化的詳實預測，而不是左牽右扯的天方夜譚！
